Scarlett Letter The Truth Hurts The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne paints a picture of devil equally guilty sinners, Hester Prynne and clergyman Dimmesdale, and shows how two characters deal with their different forms of punishment and stipendlings of remorse for what they have done.
